In one week CISB and Saab collaboration portal receives more than 200 applications

São Paulo, March 30, 2012 – The Swedish Brazilian Innovation & Research Center (CISB) and the Swedish security, airspace and defense company Saab AB launched on the 19th an online collaboration platform to prepare proposals that are to be submitted to the Federal Government's Science Without Borders program through CNPq and Capes. At researchers who are interested in conducting security, airspace and defense research inSweden can find the help they need to submit projects that are relevant toBrazil, and in this way, submit them to CNPq's approval.

The initiative makes it easier to integrate groups, and provides the teamwork required to create ideas that are relevant toBrazilandSweden. Within a week the portal received more than 200 applications and 30 research proposals presented by Swedish and Brazilian universities that are interested in post-doctorate and doctorate levels. Now projects have Saab and other researchers' support.

Over a period of two weeks, CISB and Saab visited 14 universities in seven Brazilian states — SP, RJ, MG, RS, PE, CE, SC — to introduce the platform to more than 500 researchers and foster increased engagement. During the meetings researchers had the opportunity to see the tool and interact with the portal to check how the initiative can help science and research inBrazil.

"The conventional process to submit a proposal is competitive and individualized, and depends on whether Brazilian applicants have contacts abroad. CISB facilitates interaction among groups and teamwork to create ideas that are relevant to both nations," said Bruno Rondani, CISB managing director.

Those who are interested in this first can send their proposals until the end of April. The platform will be used for further calls from CISB and it's industrial partners including Saab.
