CISB 9th Annual Meeting Successfully Completed

Between September 16 and 27, CISB held its 9th Annual Meeting and provided Brazilians and Swedes with the opportunity to intensify connections with different actors in the Brazilian and Swedish innovation ecosystems.

Held in different cities of Brazil (São Paulo, São José dos Campos, Fortaleza, Joinville, Rio de Janeiro, Balneário Camboriú, Foz do Iguaçu and Curitiba), the meeting offered its participants 10 different activities, such as workshops, debates, study visits, meetings and conferences on different areas and topics. “We concentrated many positive agendas to connect all the actors and delivered this event already considering this meeting’s ten year celebration,” celebrates Alessandra Holmo, CEO of CISB.

One of the highlights this year was the 2nd Workshop on Swedish Professor Chair at ITA, which happened at CISB’s new headquarters in the São Paulo capital. Participants were able to learn about the latest results from the collaboration between Swedish and Brazilian researchers, and the BARINet – Brazilian Aerospace Research and Innovation Network – initiative, a network of Brazilian aeronautics and aerospace researchers dedicated to fostering collaboration between their members and other external actors, in addition to improving Brazilian research in the sector.

The event brought together 11 speakers and 53 participants, 15 from industry, 23 from academia and 9 from government agencies. “During the event, the BARINet proposal was signed between the partner institutions and we had a panel discussion with representatives of FAPESP, CNPq, FINEP, Akaer and Embraer,” describes Alessandra.

Also in São Paulo, matchmaking sessions were held during the 25th and 26th of September, between Brazilian startups and CISB member companies Saab AB and Saab Aeronáutica Montagens. The startups were able to present their innovative business models in order to develop technologies in areas of challenge and interest to companies.

In Joinville, the 2nd Workshop SC2C.Aero (Santa Catarina Convergence Center for Aerospace Technologies) was held. The meeting brought together about 120 participants and 11 speakers from different organizations in Brazil and Sweden, including CISB itself and some members, such as Saab AB, Chalmers University of Technology, Linköping University and ITA.

Alessandra Holmo said that in 2020, the Annual Meeting will be in November and will begin the celebrations of CISB’s 10th anniversary, celebrated in May 2021. "The new headquarters, which has an excellent structure for in-house events, will allow us to have an even more robust agenda and it will be a joy to start this new phase celebrating 10 years of our institution,” celebrates.
